With spring coming quickly the weathers starting to get hot and its becoming time to take the boat of the dock or trailer and put it in the water. Instead of starting the season off with the same looking boat as in past years make your boat different then everyone else’s. Add your own custom style with a vinyl wrap which will be able to handle the intensity of the water and make sure you are recognized on the water. As you can see in the image below a boat wrap will cover the whole side of the boat to where you can see when submerged in water. This is done because the impact of the water against the boat would tear your vinyl quickly and unless noticed and fixed fast enough it will ruin the whole wrap. The bottoms of boats are not meant to get color changes for that particular reason whether it is a wrap or paint.
Boat wraps are a great way to advertise also. There are many people on the water through out the year and if you have a business that attracts boaters then it wouldn’t be a bad idea to advertise that business on your boat. Even though you might not be able to get on the water everyday this form of advertising will still generate the most views that your company gets from the type of consumers that you want to bring in. No more just fitting in with the crowd make yourself stand out and be noticed.
If you have transformed your bland old paint job into a unique or business advertising vehicle wrap, I would like to congratulate you. You have now successfully put your car into a new realm that will have all the people on the streets looking your way. Having a vinyl wrap is different then a paint job and requires a little different care.
1) Automatic car washes are now out of the question. The high pressure water and bristles from the machine will cause damage to your wrap and costly repairs. You should hand wash your car with a sponge, and a low pressure or mist of water. If you have to use a high pressure water system be sure to stand back at a distance and not to hold the stream on one point of the car, doing so could cause a tear in your vinyl.
2) When using wax, be sure to hand wax your car and DO NOT use a buffer. There are different kinds of wax, be sure to use one that is suitable for vinyl such as turtle wax. If you go to get your vehicle detailed be sure that they also use a wax that is vinyl friendly. Waxing your vehicle will keep your wrap clean and polished and also make it easier to deinstall of the wrap, leaving little to no adhesive behind.
3) Avoid parking under trees for any long periods of time. Sap from some trees can damage your wrap causing you more money.
4) If you have window perf it should be waxed as well. It will give your perf a longer life span and help the lamination. Do not use high pressure on the window perf as well, it can also cause damage.
Be sure to protect your wrap, it is an investment and bad care can cause to money down the drain.

Then industry standard for backings of channel letters is made from a aluminum with either a pre-painted finish or a mill finish. Other types of finishes could be anodized, brushed anodized and mirrored, the difference can be found in the thickness of the aluminum. The facing of the letters is where you can get more customized and create your own identity by selecting from color schemes material types, size and trim of the letters. The material for the facing of the letters comes in any color you would like, depending on the type of material you choose the LED lights will shine brightly making your letters brighter or dimmed down some by the material giving you a deeper color. Before LED lights were the standard channel letters did not have the depth they do know and were not as vibrant. Now the depth has been increased and the LED lights are very effective in lighting up the letters making them colorful and easily visible. At Laser Sharp Sign Design we improve the quality of our wraps by using 3M sealing tape to seal of the edges. It helps to seal and protect all edges of the wrap including wheel wells, hood, trunk and doors. Because its optically clear no one will be able to see the tape and you can extend the life of your wrap. This is a must have wrap tool that we use at Laser Sharp Sign Design to insure that our customers get the best quality products.
Before wrapping your vehicle at Laser Sharp Sign Design we do a tape test. Using high bond 3M tape, this is the closest you can get to creating the same bond the vinyl will to the car. Then pick several spots on the vehicle to test, stick a piece of tape to the spot and then remove it. If the tape comes off with ease then the bond was not very good and the car may need to be rubbed down with alcohol to remove dirt and grease that can cause a weak bond with the material. If the tape sticks good while being ripped off then the bond is good and the vehicle is well prepared to be wrapped. This test simulates how well your vinyl will bond with the vehicle. The initial bond is the most important and if not done well will cause the vinyl to start coming up which doesn’t look good and also is tough to stick back down once it looses that initial bond. Although it is a simple test it is very effective and commonly used.
A clean substrate is the most important thing to have success in wrapping a vehicle. Every vehicle should be prepped as follows: Wash 24 hrs in advance, 70% Isopropyl Alcohol the entire car, use Denatured Alcohol for tougher areas. Xyleneon the bumpers and rocker panels. We insure at Laser Sharp Sign Design that we will make sure your vehicle is as clean as they come before we start the wrap process. Vehicle wraps may not be the cheapest form in changing the color of your vehicle but they give you the bet quality and longest life time if applied and taken care of in the right ways. There are times where spending more money is worth it to insure that the quality of your product is the best that it can be and will last longer then what a cheaper job would. Research will show that a cheap paint job or wrap will not last more then two years, with either job you will see cracks start to form, fading, and tears where the car wasn’t prepped well enough. If your paint or wrap job are advertisement for your company this is something that you definitely don’t want to happen. Driving around advertising your business is a vehicle which looks like it got a cheap paint/wrap job will make people think that your cheap and actually give them a negative view towards your business. Sometimes spending the extra money is worth it, its an investment that will give you more views then any other form of advertisement there is. Don’t go cheap make sure you get the best quality there is to offer.
